ENTER THE
OSPREY
BASiCS
The current state of earth makes it impossible to live unwatched.
The osprey was constructed in the frame of five years. To avoid being detected by the Basilisk, the battleship was created beneath the barren surface and backroads of Nevada. Entering the subsurface assembly was incredibly difficult.
The ships Official launch ensues in 3033.
GENERAL CONSTRUCTION
Spanning over the length of 334.5 m with a height of 98.2m at its highest point, the adapted space battleship Osprey is a formidable behemoth even as much of its alterations have been made to better suit the large population of interplanetary refugees from Earth. The ship boasts a complex onboard AI system interlacing through the ship’s entirety to manage resources and infrastructure while providing crucial communication with passengers and integrated subordinate computing systems. The Osprey operates primarily on nuclear energy, powering it’s unique wave motion technologies that allow it to move at warp speed over immense tracts of space. Provided with water (1.3 million gallons), the Osprey has an onboard hydroponics system that functions both for agricultural purposes as well as sanitation and thermostatistics.
LIVING QUARTERS
The ship is equipped to house 2500+ people, reaching a maximum of 3000 before requiring the institution of water rationing. There are several housing options available; 12x12 individual apartments for the crew, familial housing designed to house 3 individuals, and executive apartments for individuals in leadership positions. The Osprey is fitted with a day and night cycle inside the residential sectors, matching lighting to simulate a circadian rhythm for passengers to maintain a healthy sense of time. The top deck features a pub and a recreation room fitted with a variety of activities such as a functional arcade.
WEAPONS
To protect its passengers, the Osprey is equipped with a reflective shield and wave motion shield supported by an airtight design with missile barrier shields. However, as a battleship the Osprey boasts intense offensive power; nine main 46 cm shock cannons supported with six 15.5cm shock guns housed in turrets are positioned fore and aft, pulse lasers provide additional firepower to the aforementioned turrets. Six forward-facing torpedo tubes line the ship in conjunction with more maneuverable side and stack missiles have been positioned to protect the ship from all angles. The hangar at the back of the ship operates on a revolver system, launching a fleet of fighter ships for use in combat and reconnaissance.
The magnum opus of the Osprey’s offensive capabilities is the Wave Motion Gun capable of obliterating the largest of asteroids - or most formidable of enemy ships.
WAVE MOTiON GUN
The Wave Motion Gun is a powerful weapon capable of destroying anything as large as Australia. The weapon is embedded in the bow of the Osprey and it fires a beam straight forward. Its energy comes from the wave motion engine, which is a large device that behaves as a high-power capacitor.
Drawbacks include temporary inactivity of the wave motion engine, therefore preventing any further movement or escape. The wave motion engine's only operation is occupied for the wave motion gun when utilized.
Examples
WAVE MOTiON ENGiNE
The Wave Motion engine is placed in a reactor core on board the Osprey. When used as a source of propulsion, the aft-facing gravity wave compression chamber works in tandem with the fore-facing gravity wave compression chamber to create a wormhole ahead of the ship while encapsulating the Osprey within its own spacetime bubble. As the Osprey enters warp navigation, the ship will traverse the wormhole at faster-than-light speeds but the flow of time within its local spacetime bubble will be momentarily frozen.
In other words, the technolgy to harness warp speed.
